MemorialHorse 7698264 viewsThe Mattapoisett Memorial Day parade on Monday will feature its first-ever riderless horse known as a “caparisoned horse,” a historic tradition that honors warriors and highly esteemed soldiers and individuals during a funeral procession. Led by her owner, Cheryl Randall Mach, ‘Honey’ will be formally dressed with two boots belonging to Mach’s grandfather, a WWI cavalry veteran, mounted in the stirrups facing backwards along with a silver cavalry sword.

Marion Memorial Day264 viewsRochester fared far better with its Memorial Day celebration than Marion and Mattapoisett did with theirs on rainy Monday. Sunday, May 29, was a picture perfect day for a parade. At the Town Hall, the names of the fallen soldiers were read aloud and the Rochester Memorial School Band played patriotic songs before heading out for the parade. Photos by Colin Veitch

Old Rochester Regional High Graduation 264 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional High Graduation ceremony on June 4 included speeches from Superintendent Doug White, Principal Michael Devoll, Class President Bailey Sweet, and Valedictorian Paige Watterson. Harbor Days 264 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community.
