The sublime sensory experience that is the Rochester Country Fair! What is more fun than four fun-filled days of frog racing, tractor pulling, mechanic bull riding, and fried food eating? Mattapoisett Historical Museum Photos177 viewsThe Mattapoisett Historical Museum is in possession of hundreds of photographs dating from the 1800s to as recently as the 1980s bearing images of people and places from Mattapoisett, but lacking identification. In their latest exhibit, the museum is asking the public to help solve the mystery each of the pictures represents. Each black and white or colorized image is a mini-mystery waiting to be solved. Taber Fall Lapsit Program177 viewsThe Fall Lapsit Program for babies kicked off on October 7 at the Taber Library in Marion. Babies and their caregivers enjoy 20 minutes of stories and 20 minutes of social time. Children’s Librarian Rosemary Gray delighted five happy babies with some peekaboo, short stories such as Where is Baby’ Belly Button, and songs like the Itsy Bitsy Spider. Mattapoisett Fire Station Open House177 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Station was packed with hundreds of children and their grown-ups for the October 9 Open House during Fire Prevention Week, enjoying the balloons, face painting, plastic firefighter hats, and free Chinese food. Marion Village Stroll177 viewsThere were hundreds strolling the streets during the 2014 Marion Holiday Stroll on December 14. Celebrity sightings included Santa Claus on his carriage, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Sparky the Fire Dog. The Showstoppers and The Sippican School Marching Band lit up the afternoon until the tree lighting ceremony lit up the night, the finale of that starry-skied evening.
