Marion Fire Department255 viewsThe Marion Fire Department celebrated the careers of three of its retiring firefighters on November 8. Deputy Chiefs William Scott, Charles Blanchette, and Scott Cowell were toasted (and roasted) by Marion Fire Chief Thomas Joyce before family and friends at the Marion VFW Saturday night. The wives of MacDougal and Blanchette, and the daughter of Cowell, attached new deputy chief badges on the three gentlemen during the pinning ceremony, and the three selectmen honored the retiring chiefs with gifts.

Rochester Movie Set255 viewsOnce The Wanderer first reported the presence of a Hollywood film crew in Rochester on April 2 word quickly spread, and so did the rumors that stars of the film production “Joy” were in town for the day. There were no star sightings, however Rochester resident Hilary Wood was able to get some photos of the action from her front yard, after the surprise of an Amish-driven horse and carriage caught her eye as it passed her window on Hartley Road.
