Overcast skies were welcomed but the July 4th heat was tough for the runners and the cheering crowds who begged for shade. The residents cleaned the beaches in solidarity with 400,000 individuals in 120 countries, all who participated in a global beach cleanup orchestrated by the Ocean Conservancy.
