The OHS band played a number of tunes, while the Center School students sang patriotic songs and listened to Principal Rose Bowman read a series of poems and writings to remind the children of what the American flag stands for. Lemonade179 viewsIn 1988, Kathleen Renzi and Roni King, wives of Lions Club members, wanted to help the organization, but women weren’t allowed to be members. The two decided to sell lemonade during community events, giving a portion of the proceeds to the Lions Club and other charitable organizations. For decades they sold lemonade at Harbor Days. In more recent years, their wooden stirring spoon has been passed down to their daughters Catherine Renzi and Kathy King.

Turtle Care179 viewsSome of the residents of Jenney Lane at The Cove in Marion have found a new passion in rescuing diamond-backed terrapin eggs and safely releasing the hatchlings into the wild. A private neighborhood group, along with “Turtle Guy” Don Lewis and wife Sue Weiber Nourse, created a terrapin habitat restoration project knows as the turtle garden at The Cove. Marion Veterans Day Observance179 viewsDuring the Marion Veterans Day observance on Friday morning, the townspeople of Marion expressed a heartfelt thank you to the Benjamin D. Cushing VFW Post 2425, which in return gave a moving farewell as it disbanded this year and donated the VFW building to the town.
