Frosty Runner Road Race299 viewsRunners who participated in the third annual Frosty Runner Road Race enjoyed spring-like weather, perfect for a 10 mile or 3 mile run through the neighborhoods of Rochester. The two separate races were run simultaneously, beginning and ending at Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School on Saturday February 1. Marion Natural History Museum 299 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum hosted their very first Earth Day Celebration on April 19, providing little ones with activities that focused on our planet and stimulated their senses. There was a make your own planet earth pinwheel table, a station to decorate your own “Earth cookie” with green and blue icing, a puppet show stage, and a boat load of Legos to play with while the sounds of croaking frogs and crickets played in the background. Much Ado About Nothing 299 viewsWhen ORR High School students Ian Hibbert and Jeremy Bare walked out onto the stage in longhaired wigs and skirts, the crowd burst into laughter. Twenty-one students from English teacher Kathleen Brunelle’s Theater class performed Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing on May 22. The performance had a different spin on the original play, the setting being post-World War II, with accompanying music by the Andrews Sisters that, along with period clothing and costumes, brought the play to life. The Bogs at Sunset299 viewsThere is an otherworldly appearance to the Bogs during the long-shadowed evening hours of late spring. The landscape is bathed in golden sunlight that makes the bogs appear to glow from the inside out. The Buzzards Bay Coalition oversees the 50 acres of retired cranberry bogs that abounds with wildlife of the amphibious kind.
