Cranberry Outing206 viewsPerfect weather brought out the young and the young at heart to the second annual cranberry harvest at “The Bogs” on Acushnet Road in Mattapoisett, a Buzzards Bay Coalition property. The retired bog acreage is slowly returning to meadows and woodlands. But for now cranberries continue to grow giving the do-it-yourself harvester a chance to enjoy nature’s bounty. Marion Natural History Museum206 viewsOn Wednesday, Dec. 10th, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group enjoyed working on crafts from nature and recycled materials. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a happy and fun-filled event. Many, many thanks to Grace Moran for her kind donation of frames complete with glass, which the students used to create their own masterpieces for gift-giving. Spanish Trip206 viewsSpanish students from Old Rochester Regional High School recently enjoyed a trip to the Museum of Fine Arts (MFA) in Boston courtesy of grants from the Marion and Rochester Cultural Councils. Students studied the works of Francisco Goya, one of the most important Spanish artists of the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. They were then able to visit an exhibition of his work at the MFA.
