Build-your-own Snowman210 viewsUnder the direction of Jeanne McCullough, children at the Mattapoisett Free Library on December 30 participated in a step-by-step build-your-own snowperson activity during the winter school break. Little fingers sticky with glue flattened out cotton balls and fastened them to prefabricated Styrofoam snowperson shapes, and then glued on the trimmings under the guidance of caregivers. Marion Art Center Members Show210 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28. Chili Cook-off210 viewsThe MattMen of Mattapoisett Congregational Church came together Sunday night, January 25th ,to see who amongst them cooks up the best man-made chili. Tasting was free to all who came. Those who wished to vote contributed $5 to The Baby Project of New Bedford. $518 was raised for The Baby Project. Out of 15 chili cooks who prepared 16 pots of chili, Rory McFee received the most votes for his “Smoky Chili.”. Bob Field’s “Oyster Chili” came in second place. Photo by Felix Perez
