The fund raiser was originally scheduled to run for two nights and to include Sunday but was cancelled due to Hurricane Sandy. Marion Natural History Museum299 viewsOn December 12 the Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool program held it’s annual nature craft party/program. This year, due to ongoing construction at the Museum the party was held in the Sippican School Community Room. Students made baskets, ornaments, pincushions and other items from natural materials. Pinewood Derby299 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. Other awards included, Best Theme to Connor Lavoie for his Batmobile, Best Design to David Strom for Kool Kone and Best Paint Job to Max Richins for Bulldog. Photos by Felix Perez

Memorial Day Boat Race299 viewsDan Lawrence and William D. Watling III of Rochester (above left) broke the race record, winning the men’s division with a time of 1:46:59. Amy Hartley-Matteson of Mattapoisett and Katherine Hartley of Rochester (2:11:14) won the women’s division for the third consecutive time – the second time they’ve three-peated.
