Veteran's Day 2013303 viewsThe Tri-Town honored veterans on Monday with moving programs. In Marion, the parade included Cub Scout Pack 32, Master of Ceremonies Joe Napoli, and the Sippican School Band. In Mattpoisett, Daniel Mazzuca gave a speech that focused on what our country can do for veterans in need of jobs, housing, and mental health services. Klondike Derby303 viewsThe Klondike derby is a one-day competitive event at Camp Cachalot located in Myles Standish State Park, Carver, Massachusetts. The Klondike derby uses sledges and Klondike Gold Rush themes to compete in a multiple “Town” course, pitting each team’s skills and teamwork against the clock. The purposes of the derby are: first a grand outdoor winter adventure full of fun and surprises, and another way for Scout’s to test their basic camping and survival skills. This event is for Scouts only.

Olde Field Farm303 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust and the Rochester Land hosted a joint walk at the Olde Field Farm property on the afternoon of Sunday, February 23. Hikers walked through the pinewood trails and through the frozen wetlands surrounding the Mattapoisett River, looking for animal tracks in the snow and admiring the natural beauty Rochester has to offer. Strengthening Families Fair303 viewsThere was so much to do and discover on March 1 at the “Strengthening Families Fair”, funded by the Department of Early Education & Care, and coordinated by the Old Rochester Regional School District. The gymnasium at the ORR High School was set up like a kids’ wonderland, with art projects, reading activities, brightly-colored gymnastics equipment, a flowing rainbow parachute, and…everyone’s favorite local children’s music group, “the Toe Jam Puppet Band.” Photo by Jean Perry
