Rochester Boy Scouts Troop 31220 viewsRochester Boy Scouts Troop 31 said a fond farewell to its scoutmaster of nine years, Mike Blanchard. A cake with an uncanny likeness of Blanchard was enjoyed after the ceremony. Nine candles symbolized the nine years Blanchard spent as scoutmaster. Photo by Jean Perry

Tractor Pull220 viewsThe NEATTA enjoyed a gorgeous fall day in Rochester for its annual fall tractor pulling event on Saturday at the Rochester Country Fair grounds that were once again, albeit briefly, filled with the familiar sights, sounds, and smells of diesel smoke we all expect from a good day at the tractor pulls! Marion Holiday Stroll220 views It was all about Santa on December 10 for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll, although at first the Grinch stole the show (but not Christmas) until Santa made his big arrival at Town Wharf to the chanting of his name, stealing back from the Grinch his rightful place as the center of attention. Holiday in the Park220 viewsIt looked like another record turnout at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett on December 9 for the annual Holiday in the Park and tree lighting. The tent was stuffed with hot foods, cocoa, donuts, Christmas cookies, and the hundreds of people in line to warm up out of the snowy cold. Did you miss the tree lighting? See The Wanderer Facebook page for a video capturing the magical moment. Photos by Jean Perry

Marion Natural History Museum220 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group had a wonderful time exploring what works (and what doesn't) when constructing a wooden sailboat. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. After decorating their vessels, students raced the boats down two long rain gutters filled with water. Many thanks to engineer Mark Whalen for yet another terrific program!
