We discovered that the diamondback terrapin can live 25-40 years, and that the warmest part of the terrapin's nest will result in females and the coolest part, males. The students practiced measuring turtle carapaces and taking a close look at the shells of different turtle species. The Marion Natural History Museum thanks Carol "Krill" Carson, Aanchal Gu

Sayonara, School! 221 viewsDark clouds and raindrops couldn’t dampen the spirits of students and teachers on June 25 when Rochester Memorial School said farewell until next September. Bandleader Chris Williamson, along with teachers and Principal Derek Medeiros, sent the students on their way with the traditional rousing music. The musical fest-like last day of school has been taking place for more then 20 years, according to Williamson. Photos by Marilou Newell

The Mattapoisett Land Trust’s annual tradition continues with help from the folks at Brownell Systems and their trusty crane. This year Alan Johnson braved a fear of heights to place the hat on top of Salty the Seahorse’s head just right as MLT’s Jenny Mello directed from below and Brownell’s Tom Checkman operated the crane’s controls.
