Rochester turned 340 426 viewsHey, hey, it’s your birthday, Rochester! Rochester turned 340 years old on June 4, and the third grade class from RMS was invited to celebrate with some cake and ice cream at the senior center on Tuesday. Students started the day with a tour around historic Rochester before breaking for lunch and sharing a large birthday cake with seniors. Students also received a free “Rochester 340” t-shirt, courtesy of a grant that funded the students’ birthday gifts. Photos by Jean Perry

Rochester Bakery421 viewsThe Rochester Bakery and Cafe, a longtime local hang-out at Plumb Corner, was destroyed in a catastrophic fire on the evening of July 28, 2011. Eyewitnesses described the fire as starting with several explosions at the rear of the building. The blaze displaced two residents and three businesses.
