Celebrating the 4th406 viewsMarion's annual fireworks display attracted several thousand people to the town's Silvershell Beach Park on Friday evening July, 3. The Marion town band entertained the crowd until dusk when the night's big show lit up the sky's above Sippican Harbor. Marion Natural History Museum406 viewsDuring Wednesday's “Soil Critters” afterschool program, students had the opportunity to learn about what makes up a healthy soil and how varying numbers of insects populate different types of soil. The soil from the compost pile had the highest number of animals, with 17 pill bugs, 26 worms, two beetles, 34 springtails, two millipedes and one nematode. The group was formed in August, 2006 and is made up of men who are traditional jazz and Dixieland music enthusiasts, many of whom are also members of the long-established Stone Street Strummers Banjo Band.
