Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 259 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez

Marion Village Stroll259 viewsThere were hundreds strolling the streets during the 2014 Marion Holiday Stroll on December 14. Celebrity sightings included Santa Claus on his carriage, the Grinch, the Nutcracker, and Sparky the Fire Dog. The Showstoppers and The Sippican School Marching Band lit up the afternoon until the tree lighting ceremony lit up the night, the finale of that starry-skied evening. There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Antique Car Show259 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. In collaboration with the Marion Garden Group, paintings were staged with floral arrangements to provide viewers with a unique art installation. The paintings will be on view for the next month.
