Elizabeth Taber Statue154 viewsOn July 14, work began on the Elizabeth Taber Statue site at Bicentennial Park in Marion. The site will include granite steppers, concrete paving, lighting, two wooden benches and a granite bench for Elizabeth to sit on. There will be room on either side of the granite bench for folks to sit and thank Elizabeth for all that she did for Marion. Susannah Davis of Marion has designed the plantings that will be added around the site. – Judith Rosbe

Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 153 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez

A row of different Town-owned vehicles including a police cruiser, ambulance, earth diggers, a fire engine, and fire trucks lined the Town House field. There were plenty of Department of Public Works, police, and fire personnel on hand to demonstrate how the vehicles work, to turn on lights and alarms, and answer questions. Photo by Jean Perry
