Antique Car Show282 views It was a great turnout for the Agawam’s 3rd Annual Antique Car Show at Washburn Park in Marion on Saturday, August 29. Classic car entrants signed their antique automobiles up for a chance to win first, second, or third place in the show. The sponsoring group, Agawam Chapter No. 121 Order of the Eastern Star, uses the proceeds from the event to benefit various charities the group supports. MNHM Bird Island Trip282 viewsMany thanks to Mike, Isaac and Adam of the Marion Harbormaster’s office for the wonderful trip to Bird Island last week. Warm weather and very little wind added up to a perfect opportunity to explore the island during it’s shore bird “off season”. We looked for left over eggs, bones and nesting material. We also had an opportunity to visit the light house and take in views from the top, which included Cape Cod and the canal railroad bridge. Thank you for the great trip! Kids Equipment Fun Day282 viewsSaturday, May 7, was the date for the annual Kids Equipment Fun Day at Washburn Park in Marion, sponsored by Marion Recreation. The kids climbed aboard ambulances, fire trucks, police cruisers, and even the harbormaster’s boat. This year, Recreation Director and Selectman Jody Dickerson served up free hotdogs during the popular event that seemed to draw a bigger crowd this year than the previous years. Photos by Ethan Akins

Marion Village 5K282 viewsThe number of participants in this year’s Marion Village 5K might have been down slightly according to race organizers, but the sentiment of fun and competition certainly was not on Saturday, June 25. Taking first place for men was Andrew Sukeforth of Middleboro with a time of 15:43, and Meg Hughes of Rochester won first place in the women’s division with a time of 19:50. Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run 281 views Sunday, May 4 was a perfect day for a fun run through Marion, and about 200 people turned out to participate in VASE’s second annual Sippican Schooner 5k and Mini Fun Run to raise money for educational programs at Sippican Elementary School. VASE member Diana Martin organized the event, with the support of about 12 volunteers who assisted that morning in making sure the two races went off without a hitch. Photo by Felix Perez
