Marion Fire Department 302 viewsSunday was a solemn day for the Tri-Town and its first responders as many gathered to honor Thomas Nye, 72, a 45-year veteran of the Marion Fire Department who died February 27 in the line of duty. Over 100 firefighters, police officers, and EMS personnel from the Tri-Town and beyond marched together down Route 6 in Mattapoisett on March 3 to pay their respects to their fallen comrade who suffered a cardiac arrest at home after assisting in a fire call the night before. South Coast Chamber Music301 viewsThe South Coast Chamber Music Society performed selections from Schnittke, Schubert and Brahms during their performance at St. Gabriel’s Church on Saturday evening, March 3. The Show was also included a lecture about the composer prior to the concert and was attended by about seventy people. Pinewood Derby301 viewsOn Saturday, March 2nd 2013, The Cubs Scout Pack 32 held a pinewood derby at the Community Hall of the Congregational Church in Marion. The results were 1st Lucas Marcolini, 2nd Brendan Hubbard, 3rd Nathaniel Bangs, and 4th Nate Robertson. All four move on to regional finals in New Bedford later this month. The students were able to piece together some of the skeleton of a Loggerhead that washed up in Mattapoisett two years ago.
