Sippican School Garden Club313 viewsMembers of the Sippican School Garden Club have been busy this harvest season caring for their vegetables, herbs, and flowers after school. On September 23 it took ten enthusiastic little gardeners to pull up a ten-foot tall sunflower and carry it to “Weed Mountain.” After, the kids collected greens, grasses, and flowers to make an arrangement for the main office. Marion Natural History Museum313 viewsOn Wednesday, Dec. 10th, the Marion Natural History Museum afterschool group enjoyed working on crafts from nature and recycled materials. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this such a happy and fun-filled event. Many, many thanks to Grace Moran for her kind donation of frames complete with glass, which the students used to create their own masterpieces for gift-giving. Marion Art Center Members Show313 viewsMembers of the Marion Art Center showcased their work during the opening reception of the MAC Annual Winter Members Show on January 9. Members were allowed to submit up to three pieces, and MAC Executive Director Deborah Bokelkamp said members not only have artistic skill, but they possess the skill of self-expression. “The person doing it feels it,” said Bokelkamp. “It’s not just the act, it’s the expression.” The show runs until February 28. Marion Firefighter’s Association313 viewsThe Marion Firefighter’s Association held its annual spaghetti supper fundraiser on Saturday, January 31 at the Marion VFW. There was a performance by the Toe Jam Puppet Band, a Birds of Prey demonstration, face painting, and a rock-climbing wall. Marion Village 5K313 viewsThe Marion Village 5K is in its 19th year, and over 250 participants turned out to run the 3.1-mile course along the waterfront and through the quaint Marion village. Each teacher devised their own scavenger hunt for the kids that helped the students discover their classrooms.
