Annual Turkey Trot 5K 321 viewsThe Annual Turkey Trot 5K wound its way through Marion Village on Sunday, November 17, with 182 trotters (and some ‘turkeys’ as well) braving a chilling wind that morning to make it to the finish line. Organized by the Marion Recreation Department, the event every year draws quite a flock of runners to the start and finish line at Tabor Academy, raising funds for Marion Rec programs and events. Marion Halloween Parade 2017321 viewsHalloween in the Marion village is one event that shouldn’t be missed! Hundreds upon hundreds of little ghosts, ghouls, and goblins took to the streets to show off their costumes and follow it up with some treats (no tricks) and refreshments at the Marion Music Hall, sponsored by those very kind witches at the Marion Art Center. Marion Holiday Stroll321 views It was all about Santa on December 10 for the annual Marion Holiday Stroll, although at first the Grinch stole the show (but not Christmas) until Santa made his big arrival at Town Wharf to the chanting of his name, stealing back from the Grinch his rightful place as the center of attention. Touch-A-Truck 321 viewsMarion Recreation held its 8th annual Touch-A-Truck event at Washburn Park on May 11. The turnout exceeded past Kids Equipment Fun Day events in Marion, especially last year’s, which was repeatedly postponed and then canceled altogether. Pizza with Santa321 viewsThe Marion Police Brotherhood held its annual Pizza with Santa at the Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center on Sunday, December 8. ‘Chief’ Santa and Mrs. Claus entertained the little ones before enjoying a pizza lunch. The Police Department’s “Fill a Cruiser” toy drive was in full gear as well, with several guests bringing toy donations to benefit children in foster care. Photos by Jean Perry

Santa's Arrival320 viewsMarion children gave a rock stars welcome to Santa Claus, who arrived at Marions Annual Holiday Stroll by boat on December 13. The pouring rain didnt stop Santa from spreading candy and holiday cheer to the crowd of exciting children.
