Pizza with Santa334 viewsIt’s never Christmas in Marion until you’ve sat on Santa’s lap followed by a slice of pizza. Sunday was the annual Pizza with Santa, hosted by the Marion Police Brotherhood. Marion Natural History Museum334 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum after school group had a wonderful time exploring what works (and what doesn't) when constructing a wooden sailboat. The students constructed their own boat, either a single hull or catamaran, and added a sail and keel. After decorating their vessels, students raced the boats down two long rain gutters filled with water. Many thanks to engineer Mark Whalen for yet another terrific program! Marion Natural History Museum334 viewsThe Marion Natural History Museum’s afterschool group had a chance to learn to identify certain local trees in winter by their bark. Students compared red cedar bark to red pine, took a close look at various lichens and mosses that use tree bark as a surface to grow on, and counted rings in a log supplied by Hartley Saw Mill in Rochester.

Marion Town Party334 viewsChalk up another successful Marion Town Party as several hundred party-goers found good food and fun on the grounds of the Town House on 8/25. Children of all ages enjoyed inflatable games, climbing the rock wall, or jumping around to music. The annual party has its roots deep in the community and may have started as early at 1900. This year’s event featured live entertainment, a scavenger hunt, and lots of good food.

After spending several months in hospitals in Florida and Boston, the Tabor Academy graduate and member of the Holy Cross women's rowing team returned to her Pitcher Street residence to continue her recovery from severe injuries sustained in a January 15 collision with a pickup truck in Vero Beach that took the life of her teammate Grace Rett and injured her coach and several other teammat
