Polar Plunge99 viewsOn New Years Day, hundreds were arrayed at Mattapoisett Town Beach for this year’s Mattapoisett Polar Plunge. Since 2013, the beach has seen residents and visitors run into the freezing Atlantic to kick off the new year. The event is held by Keep On Plungin’ who, through the selling of baked goods, coffee, and hot chocolate, donate all proceeds of the fridged plunge to local families grappling with the costs of cancer treatment. Dunseith Park99 viewsWith a crew of eager third graders, Don Cuddy along with other members of the Mattapoisett Land Trust education committee planted sunflowers at Dunseith Park located at the corner of North Street and Route 6 recently. This is a continuation of a major goal by the land trust: educating children about our natural environment.

Mattapoisett Woman’s Club98 viewsAt the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club luncheon on March 17, members donated to support World Central Kitchen for Ukraine and filled a jar with cash and checks totaling $500. The next afternoon, March 18, several members of the Garden Group collaborated to create window-box displays at the Mattapoisett Post Office. The design was created by Sharon Doyon to show support for the people of Ukraine. The Garden Group was honored to have several people stop to comment and thank them for their efforts

Working the Mattapoisett Harbormaster boat piloted by P.J.
