Mattapoisett Sustainability Partnership154 viewsThe Mattapoisett Sustainability Partnership continues to pursue ways to engage the public as its members work to understand better ways to provide sustainable solutions for a variety of human activity, including art. On September 2, an exhibit of recycled/upcycled works of art was on display at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library. We were amazed at the variety of materials and types of art that were created from small shining towers to 3-D book sculptures to wearable art and more.

Holiday Party at Shipyard Park153 viewsThe community turned out for a wonderful late afternoon of lights, music, food and fun at the annual Holiday Party at Shipyard Park in Mattapoisett hosted by the Lions Club. The Lions were collecting non-perishable food and unwrapped new toys to distribute to those in need during the holiday. Memorial Day 2014153 viewsScores of Mattapoisett residents gathered in front of the Mattapoisett Free Library the drizzly afternoon of May 26 to pay homage to veteran Americans who lost their lives. Onlookers filled the lawn and spilled out into the street to watch the Memorial Day ceremony with special guest speaker Navy Reserve Commander Paul J. Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run153 viewsDrew Weaver, #102, aged 12 of Mattapoisett and Matt Castro, #101, age 12 of Westport, were guaranteed winners September 13 at the Kids Ocean Mile Fun Run put on by the Mattapoisett YMCA. The only ones who signed up to compete, Castro took first place and Weaver took second in a close race.
