Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree236 viewsOn October 25, families gathered around the fire with Salty the Seahorse to enjoy some storytelling and the general splendor of nighttime in Dunseith Gardens. Salty’s Silvery Moon Soiree is a fall tradition sponsored by the Mattapoisett Land Trust. Guests enjoy s’mores and cider, music, and stories told by Toby Gills. Tour de Crème236 viewsThe Mattapoisett Land Trust in tandem with the Mattapoisett Bike Path Committee held its first Tour de Crème on Sunday, May 22. The fundraiser brought groups on three different courses – 13-, 25-, and 48-miles long – winding their way through area towns and making stops at various local ice cream parlors. Although rain was in the forecast all week, the over 150 participants lucked out with only partly cloudy skies. Photos by Colin Veitch

Flag Day236 viewsCenter School students gathered together with Old Hammondtown students by the Center School flagpole on the morning of Tuesday, June 14, to celebrate Flag Day. The OHS band played a number of tunes, while the Center School students sang patriotic songs and listened to Principal Rose Bowman read a series of poems and writings to remind the children of what the American flag stands for. Afterwards, the third-graders treated the seniors to the school’s annual senior breakfast. Photos by Jean Perry

Harbor Days 236 viewsHarbor Days came to Mattapoisett this past weekend, and many visitors were gracious enough to spin The Wanderer Wheel for a $1 donation to the Lions Club. Those who played helped raise an extra $523 the Lions Club will use to benefit the community. The Aardvark came out too, but since furry aardvarks hate hot weather, he only made a couple of appearances. Photos by Jean Perry

Following events are Wednesday with Concert in the Park and strawberry shortcake, Thursday is Paint Night at Shipyard Park, Friday is the fish fry, Saturday is craft fair/vendors, entertainment, U-Pick ‘Em Auction, and lobster dinner, and Sunday is the pancake breakfast.
