Flynn said that the event brought in more than $6,000 - monies that are earmarked for their scholarship fund. She said visitors were awed by the gardens graciously opened for viewing from iconic harbor homes to those set in peaceful rural uplands along the Mattapoisett River Valley. Lions Club Triathlon246 viewsUnder merciful overcast skies on July 15, the 37th annual Lions Club Triathlon found 115 participants including seven relay teams vying for first place bragging rights. Coming in 1st place in the men’s division was Brian Hughes with a time of 51:38 minutes. Memorial Day 2014245 viewsScores of Mattapoisett residents gathered in front of the Mattapoisett Free Library the drizzly afternoon of May 26 to pay homage to veteran Americans who lost their lives. Onlookers filled the lawn and spilled out into the street to watch the Memorial Day ceremony with special guest speaker Navy Reserve Commander Paul J. Brawley who served more than 22 years of active duty and reserve service. After the ceremony, participants paraded through the town to the town wharf. Photo By Jean Perry

Mattapoisett Harbormaster245 viewsMattapoisett Harbormaster Jill Simmons has become a de facto art museum curator since the town acquired prints and photographs that now grace the walls of the tiny harbormaster’s office at Shipyard Park. Local photographer Misty King has several of her pieces on display, along with two pieces by USCG’s artist Michael Mazur.
