The group members have put in countless hours planting this and other beds from Shipyard Park to Ned’s Point to commemorate the town’s 150th birthday. A certificate of authenticity was provided indicating that the newly-planted “Witness Tree,” a tulip poplar, is a direct descendant of a tree planted by George Washington at Mount Vernon.
