The basement of St. Anthony’s church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. Mattapoisett Tree Lighting375 viewsMattapoisett lit one of the biggest trees Shipyard Park has ever seen at the 2011 Holiday in the Park. There was food from local establishments, ornament making, merry music and Santa! The moment was enough to spur two romantic marriage proposals. Santa Arrives374 viewsMattapoisett held its annual holiday celebration and tree lighting on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Shipyard Park. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Children made their own ornaments and hung them on the Christmas tree. They also danced with Rudolph and Frosty and shared their Christmas wishes with Santa Claus. Photo by Felix Perez.

Memorial Day374 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the town’s Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery. Harbor Days Craze374 viewsThe town gazebo was the scene of another sultry Harbor Days this past weekend. Rows of vendors peddled their fun wares while visitors of all ages enjoyed music, conversation and the best strawberry shortcake in the world.
