Trash Fire377 viewsA trash truck was up in smoke on Long Plain Road in Mattapoisett last week. Before I knew it, engines and firemen appeared in full gear. Christmas Holiday Shop376 viewsSt. Anthony’s and St. Rita’s parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthony’s church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. Helping Hands and Hooves376 viewsHelping Hands and Hooves, a Mattapoisett-based non-profit organization in the area of Aucoot Cove, gives horseback riding lessons to disabled people in the Southcoast region. Memorial Day376 viewsThe Florence Eastman Post 220 in Mattapoisett hosted the town’s Memorial Day observance and parade on May 31, 2010. The ceremony began with a service at the Veteran’s monument in front of the library, and then a parade assembled and marched to the town wharf and to Cushing Cemetery.
