Christmas Holiday Shop380 viewsSt. Anthony’s and St. Rita’s parishioners combined efforts to give the community a Christmas Holiday Shop and Celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2009. The basement of St. Anthony’s church was decked out in snowflakes, wreaths, bells, bows, and a Santa sleigh. Santa listened patiently as children told him what they wanted for Christmas. The rain couldn't dampen holiday spirits as visitors enjoyed delicious food and listened to Christmas music performed by the Showstoppers. Artists Summer Gallery 379 viewsThe Mattapoisett-area Artists Summer Gallery Exhibit will take place on weekends from July 3 to Labor Day. The exhibit will feature paintings, sculptures, photography and scrimshaw by well-known area artists, including sculptures by David Englund and oil paintings by Christine Bertram. Harbor Days Craze379 viewsThe town gazebo was the scene of another sultry Harbor Days this past weekend. Rows of vendors peddled their fun wares while visitors of all ages enjoyed music, conversation and the best strawberry shortcake in the world. Librarian Linda Burke read a traditional Chinese story, and then the children enjoyed making their own dragons, watched as Haiying Zhang wrote their names in Mandarin, and tried eating fried rice with chopsticks. Great Community Picnic379 viewsThe Great Community Picnic hosted by the Mattapoisett Land Trust and Historical Museum featured great food, music, and lots of creative expression. One table was tricked out in a Jaws theme while another was filled with ladies wearing hats called “fascinators”. The fourth annual fundraiser was a sold out event.
