Museum Mural429 viewsA large 6 by 16 foot Clifford Ashley mural was donated to the Mattapoisett Museum by Polly Phipps of 20 Water Street. The mural, which depicts the Southcoast of Massachusetts from the Connecticut River to the Cape and Islands, hung in the Water Street home for 90 years before being donated to the Museum. Mattapoisett Historical Society President Seth Mendell said that after the mural is professionally restored, it will be mounted on the wall in the Museum. Photo by Anne O'Brien-Kakley.

Camper Fire428 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Department responded to a fire involving a camper at 110 Marion Road at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, November 4, 2009. A shed and a truck on the scene were also damaged in the fire. According to Chief Murray, the structures and vehicle were all clustered closely together in a remote area on the property and were fully involved on arrival. An electric heater in the camper is being looked into as the cause. The owner of the property had just purchased the camper three weeks ago.
