Tie-Dyed at ORR360 viewsStudents in Ms. Gauvin’s eighth grade science class at Old Rochester Regional Junior High School learned about chemical reactions and colors during a tie-dye shirt-making session held this past week. UMass Dartmouth Chemistry Professor Tobey Dills (right background) and members of the UMass Dartmouth Chemistry Club were on hand to supervise the proceedings. Each student made their own cotton tie-dyed shirt which they will wear to school as part of a planned “Tie-Dyed Day.” (Photo by Kenneth J. Souza).

Students Sowing Seeds359 viewsSecond graders at Rochester Memorial School received a grant of 200 bulbs from the North American Flowerbulb Wholesales Association, and small groups of students set the 178 bulbs around the school’s sign and on either side of the front door earlier this week. Remaining bulbs will be cultivated and studied in the classroom. Students are now eagerly looking forward to April when their plantings will begin to bloom. (Photo courtesy of Linda Medeiros).

Aida at ORR357 viewsPast and present members of the Old Rochester Regional High School Drama Club came together under the direction of Paul Sardinha for a remarkable three-day summer production of Aida, the acclaimed Broadway show from Tim Rice and Elton John, which was staged at the high school last weekend.
