ORR Relay for Life489 viewsJust some of the nearly 200 students, teachers, family members and friends who recently participated in the Relay for Life to benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS) at Old Rochester Regional High School on Friday, June 10. The fund-raising event kicked off with the first laps led by cancer survivors, while 17 teams of walkers continued on throughout the 18-hour event. This years walk raised more than $48,000 for ACS programs.

Locks of Love478 viewsWhile getting a back to school haircut, Camryn McNamara of Mattapoisett recently donated over 13 inches of hair to the charity Locks of Love. The organization provides wigs to children suffering from Alopecia or long-term hair loss due to illness. Camryn is a second grader at Center School in Mattpoisett and hopes some of her classmates might think about doing the same. It made me feel very happy to give someone my hair who doesnt have any, she said.

Blooming Bulbs416 viewsLast November, the second graders of Rochester Memorial School planted numerous daffodil, tulip, hyacinth and crocus bulbs. The bulbs were provided through a grant from the North American Flower Bulb Wholesales Association and they are now blooming!
