Kevin Tavares, associate principal, challenged the kids to raise 481 canned goods to top Mr. T’s 480 – they collected over 800 instead! Human Geometry255 viewsAudiences enjoyed the first of two fall drama productions at Tabor Academy last week. Drama teacher Mark Howland wrote and directed “Human Geometry,” which focused on how mathematical concepts can be used to understand human relationships. Audiences can look forward to another fall production, “Bang Bang You’re Dead,” opening Thursday, November 12, at 7:30 pm at the Will Parker Black Box Theatre. ORRJH Thanksgiving Banquet 255 viewsORR Junior High School eighth-graders hosted the annual Thanksgiving Banquet for Tri-Town Seniors on Sunday, November 22. About 90 student volunteers helped pass out turkey dinners and raffle prizes, and cafeteria staff also volunteered their time to provide a delicious meal of thanks to area senior citizens. Special Olympics Young Athletes255 viewsRoughly 120 Tabor Academy students volunteered on January 10 to assist with the school’s first session of the Special Olympics Young Athletes™ program held at Tabor. The program offers children ages 3-7 with intellectual and developmental disabilities opportunities to engage in physical activities vital to mental and physical growth. Spearheaded by Math teacher Tim Cleary and Tabor senior Molly Bent, sessions continue January 17 to March 6 (no session February 7) at 2:00 pm at the Fish Center for Athletics

RMS Concert255 viewsOn June 10, RMS hosted the 23rd annual concert, a partnership between elementary and middle schools in Martha’s Vineyard and Rochester Memorial. The concert band contained 150 musicians. RMS veteran music instructor Christine Williamson, along with instructors from the MV schools, conducted eight musical scores to the delight of fellow students, teachers, and family. In a modern twist to the Carroll classic, watch as a 21st century Alice, played by Bess Pierre and Alexandria Strand, preoccupies herself over status updates, cell phone service, WI-FI availability, and even her own existence, as she heads down the rabbit hole and mingles with the slightly sarcastic versions of the classic characters we know and love.
