Scouts Honored492 viewsMattapoisett Boy Scouts Matthew O’Dowd, Charles Gaudet, and Alex Poulin were all recent inducted into the rank of “Eagle Scout” during an Eagle Scout Court of Honor held recently at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church. Each scout chose community service projects to attain the rank: Matthew coordinated a successful Red Cross blood drive; Charles organized the repair of the Mattapoisett Historical Society’s picket fence; and Alex helped senior citizens with difficult chores.

Scouts Cross Over491 viewsHaakon Perkins and Lee Estes of Mattapoisett took part in an impressive ceremony the last weekend in March at Camp Tinkham in Mattapoisett where they formally “graduated” from the Webelos pack to the Cub Scout troop during a “crossing over” ceremony that included fellow scouts and family members. Welcome to the Camp489 viewsCarl Robideau, Director of Camp Massasoit at the Mattapoisett branch of the YMCA Southcoast, recently led a tour of the summer camp facility on April 21 to provide prospective parents with an overview of what the program has to offer. Camp Massasoit offers programs for children of all ages starting with their Scamper Camp program aimed at preschool aged children, 4 to 5 years of age, up to their Counselor-In-Training program for teenagers, 15 to 16 years of age. Proceeds from the event will go to several charities in the state such as the Jimmy Fund and Dana- Farber Cancer Institute to assist in cancer research. Habitat for Humanity489 viewsBuzzards Bay Area Habitat for Humanity recently held a Cape Cod Canal boat cruise fundraiser for their next build. The event was very well attended with lots of great food from local restaurants. The premier sponsor of the event was Pilgrim Bank. Habitat was able to raise $5,000 for their upcoming build.
