Waterway Clean-up42 viewsKyle Kossak caused some concern when he was spotted in his kayak in Hiller Cove off Aucoot Road, but it turns out the mechanical engineer from Newport, Rhode Island, was not shell fishing, he was cleaning up trash along Mattapoisett’s shoreline. For several years now, Kossak has made a weekly hobby of picking out spots along the southern New England shoreline, taking his kayak out to selected sites and retrieving trash. The ribbon was cut by Owen Excellent, and guest speaker Leon Correy spoke to overcoming struggles and the need for equity for all people. Entertainment was provided by Grace Morrison, and Trevor Brown Jr. spoke on the design of the Juneteenth Flag. Photos by Marilou Newell

Marion M225 responded to the boat fire, and activation of the Buzzards Bay Task Force followed.
