Old Rochester Regional Youth Football274 viewsThe Old Rochester Regional Youth Football teams are hitting the fields hard in order to prepare for their upcoming 2012 season. This year marks the seventh year for the program. With over 150 players in the program, there are six teams and a dedicated staff of coaches and parents for a support system. Plymouth Sands Trail Riders 274 viewsOn Sunday, October 28, the Plymouth Sands Trail Riders bike club held a hare scramble at the Mattapoisett landfill. The club, which boasts over 300 members from all around New England, had over 100 riders participate in the event. Riders from teens up to seniors took off for the 40 minute races around the 2.5 mile wooded track. Proceeds from the event will be part of an annual donation the club makes to fund cystic fibrosis research. Photo by Eric Tripoli

During an induction banquet, the ORRAHOF honored athletes Charles Jefferson, Steven Heath, Tom DeCosta, Cornelia Dougall, Gretchen Hamer McDonald, and Peter Borsari. 3rd Annual Bulldog Dash273 viewsAlmost 200 runners and walkers braved the autumn wind chill to turn out for the third annual ORR Bulldog Dash on Saturday, November 24. The dash was held to raise funds for the purchase of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for the athletic department as well as to purchase equipment for the Cross Country teams. ORR Track273 viewsOld Rochester Regional High School indoor track and field team took first in most of the events of the meet held at Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School on Monday, December 31. ORR was in competition against several area high schools including GNB and Fairhaven High School. In the races, the ORR girls took first place in the 50 HH, 50 D, 600M, 300M, and 1M. Squash at Tabor273 viewsOn Saturday, January 4, 2013, Tabor Academy hosted Phillips Exeter Academy in a women’s junior varsity and varsity squash tournament. The Tabor team, which has almost 40 players, had a 1-2 record going into Saturday’s competition. ORR Hockey273 viewsOn Saturday, January 19, the Old Rochester Regional Varsity Ice Hockey Team ventured to the John Gallo Ice Arena in Bourne to face off against the Wareham Vikings. Members of the ORR team check out the scoreboard, which was quite active all night. The official score for the game was 12-2 in ORR’s favor, however, the scoreboard stopped keeping score at 8-2 due to the landslide victory. The win marked ORR’s sixth of the season, while the Vikings haven’t recorded a win yet. Photo by Felix Perez.
