12-26-02-21202 viewsOlivia McLean, 11-year-old daughter of Laura and Kevin McLean of Mattapoisett, visited Italy with her family recently. She stopped while wandering the walled city of Lucca to have this photo taken with a copy of her hometown newspaper The Wanderer. Built in 1504-1645 the walls are among the best preserved Renaissance defences in Europe. The fifth grader also toured Portofino, Florence, Venice and Verona. It was a trip steeped in art, history, memorable meals and an introduction to a beautiful language. 12/26/02 editionAug 19, 2005
