Charlotte Forker161 viewsTabor Academy sophomore Charlotte Forker has joined the Students of The Year campaign through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and will campaign this winter to raise money in honor of her mother Jen, a school nurse at Tabor who fought a long battle with leukemia before passing away in October of 2018. Sammy Swims197 viewsBoston Pride hockey player Samantha Davis was back in Marion for Christmas Eve, the final day of her 24-day “Sammy Swims” fundraiser for the Travis Roy Foundation. The 2015 Tabor Academy graduate and her friend, Jenna Seibold, an Endicott College student from Reading, swam off the beach from various south shore locations beginning on December 1. Salty's Hat193 viewsDue to a lift needing repair, Salty the Seahorse donned his Santa hat a day after the annual event was scheduled, but one of Mattapoisett’s signature landmarks wears it as proudly as ever on December 10. Originally constructed by gift shop owner Henry Dunseith in the pre-Route 195 mid-1950s when Route 6 was the main thoroughfare to Cape Cod, Salty’s future was as up in the air as his snout before a restoration project in 2000 ensured his long-term future. Fill-A-Cruiser Toy Drive207 viewsSunday’s Fill-A-Cruiser toy drive at Sippican Elementary School was a success! Volunteers representing the Marion Police Department, Police Brotherhood, and Sippican School (VASE) welcomed a parade of vehicles of families dropping off a variety of Christmas gifts for cookies and cupcakes. Marion Police Chief John Garcia donned the Santa suit and took pictures with kids in school resource officer Matt McGraw’s 1924 Ford Model-T. Photos by Mick Colageo. Mendell Road212 viewsAmidst Tuesday’s silent backdrop of rust-colored leaves nestled between a stone wall and Mendell Road, the Town of Rochester has done a great deal of business over the last week sandwiching a Special Town Meeting in between two Board of Selectmen meetings yielding approval for new highway equipment, the codification of bylaws, and a new assessor’s report.
