Bloom (and Gloom) 10 viewsThe “bloom is off” the $7.9 million Marion Town House renovation article, which was defeated 214-120 on Monday night during the Annual Town Meeting. For now, the Town House will remain in its current state, which we think right now looks quite lovely juxtaposed behind the cherry blossom tree in full bloom outside. Photo by Jean PerryMay 16, 2018

Flower Power 9 viewsThe village of Marion is bursting with colorful blooms as spring sprung suddenly upon us in the Tri-Town region. These tulips were a literal traffic-stopping splash of color in the sun on Cottage Street across from the Marion Music Hall on Tuesday. Photo by Jean PerryMay 10, 2018

Recycle this Wanderer 18 viewsBut make sure you read it first! Earth Day is this Sunday, April 22, and we’ve got a list of easy Earth-friendly practices to remind us all that even the busiest Earthling can be doing something every day to halt our planet’s impending doom. Leaves of ‘Sass’ 35 viewsApril is, among other things, National Poetry Month, and the ‘poet-tree’ at the Mattapoisett Library keeps growing with new poem leaves springing up every day. We especially liked the message on this leaf: “When life gives you lemons, make orange juice. Be unique.” Right on, young sassy poet… Stop by and post a poem of your own before April is over. Weed is the Word 44 viewsWe visited BASK, the 10,000 square-foot medicinal marijuana cultivation operation and dispensary in Fairhaven that recently opened on Pequod Way, and toured the facility with Mattapoisett resident and BASK CEO Chapman “Chappy” Dickerson. Dickerson says the family-run business sees plenty of “average, regular” folks from Mattapoisett who have chosen marijuana as an alternative to addictive prescription drugs. Marooned in Marion 83 viewsThe March 2 storm left a trail of destruction throughout the Tri-Town. This severed telephone pole surrounded by wires and downed trees remained an obstacle on Delano Road for over 24 hours, according to Marion Police Chief John Garcia. The road was shut down, and for some time there was no access to the east side of town, Garcia told The Wanderer on Saturday. Photo by Jean PerryMar 07, 2018

Closing in on Spring 99 viewsWe spotted our first spring flowers last week on the same roadside knoll in Rochester that year after year seems to be one of the first stops for spring in the Tri-Town. Photo by Jean PerryFeb 28, 2018
