Rochester Boy Scout Troop 31278 viewsRochester Boy Scout Troop 31 kicked off the month of March with an impressive Court of Honor held at the Grange Hall on Monday, March 4. Scoutmaster Kevin Thompson presided over the ceremony as he proudly awarded his Scouts with 15 rank advancements and 28 merit badges. The troop's current scout rank advancements set a new record that included four new Life Scouts currently working simultaneously as Eagle Scout Candidates on their community service projects.

Rochester Boy Scout Troop 31 and Cub Scout Pack 30310 viewsRochester Boy Scout Troop 31 and Cub Scout Pack 30 were invited to celebrate Scout Sunday in a special service performed by Pastor Philip H. Viall, with the assistance of Liturgist and Troop 31 Chaplin, David Andrews, at the Long Plain United Methodist Church in Acushnet this past Sunday. The warm and welcoming worship ceremony included thanking and honoring scouts and leaders for their dedication to community, the posting of the colors presented by local Eagle Scout candidates Jacob Andrews and Colin Macki

Murphy the dog310 viewsFirefighters in Rochester rescued Murphy the dog from the icy waters off of Sarah Sherman Road after straying from his family and falling through the thin ice on December 20. Firefighter Jeff Eldridge mounted an ice sled and headed 300 feet across the frozen pond to reach Murphy. The two were then pulled to land and Murphy was promptly taken to the ambulance.
