Tropical Storm Earl118 viewsThe Mattapoisett Fire Department was well prepared for anything Hurricane Earl might offer. The firefighters were in good spirits while they waited for Earl to arrive early Friday evening. Fortunately, the tropical storm didn't give them much to do as it passed by the area uneventfully in the early morning hours. Photo by Felix Perez.

Tropical Storm Earl94 viewsBoth Mattapoisett and Marion docks were busy spots last week when the National Weather Service issued a Hurricane Warning to the region. Plymouth county, in addition to Cape Cod, the Islands, and Bristol county, prepared for Hurricane Earl, a category 3 hurricane that stood the potential to make landfall in southeastern Massachusetts. Instead, Earl skirted just east of the region, hitting the Tri-Town with some rain. Photo by Anne O’Brien-Kakley.
