Citizen Cane599 viewsMinnie Fermino of 12 Baptist Street in Mattapoisett was recently bestowed with the Boston Post Cane as the town’s oldest resident of record. The cane was presented to Ms. Fermino by Selectman Steve Lombard, Selectman Ray Andrews, and Town Clerk Barbara Sullivan. Also in attendance were Ms. Fermino’s children Caroline, Maurice (Mudgie), Peter and David. Created by Boston Post publisher Edwin A. Grozier, the Boston Post Cane is a New England tradition which dates back to 1909.
