The group will hold a small plant sale/auction on Saturday, October 8 at 10:00 am at Dunseith Gardens on the corner of Route 6 and North Street in Mattapoisett, with all proceeds to benefit the American Red Cross.

Whale Winner1272 viewsFive-year-old Kate Lima of New Bedford is the winner of the “Name the Whale” Contest sponsored by First Night New Bedford. Kate chose to name the event’s tell-tale mascot “Welcome the Whale.” The First Night New Bedford 2006 committee chose the winning name “Welcome” for its cheerful whale design depicted on First Night buttons and posters. Kate received several prizes for her winning entry.
